About Me

bby O'Sullivan moved to New York in 2000, and quickly established herself as a designer and stylist. Her first collaboration collection was selected for Iceland Fashion Week, hosted by the legendary Patricia Fields, in 2001. She served as the design assistant for Yellow Fever’s debut line in 2003 and began assisting former Vogue Knitting editor Lola Ehrlich the following year. At the same time, Abby contributed to Italian, British and American Vogue magazines, as well as V, Bazaar, Paper, Elle, W and WWD, as a stylist liaison and assistant. Beginning in 2006, she began designing costumes for major motion pictures signing with the Gersh Agency. The films Abby has worked on have been nominated for two Academy Awards and granted distinctions by the Gotham Awards, Sundance Film Festival, Independent Spirit Awards, National Board of Review and The Screen Actors Guild, among others. Paying homage to her eclectic roots, she has also designed ensembles for a range of colorful characters in burlesque, theater and music. She has served as a stylist for music videos and as a private designer for the performer Rosewood (Box NYC). Inspired by the fantasy element of the costume world, Abby set out to create KEEN-O CALDER.

KEEN-O CALDER is a line of women’s clothing that plays on an affinity for both a Mod and New Look Era esthetic. Deliberately opposing references in both shape and fabrication in each garment work with a women’s body to cut a wholly flattering and feminine silhouette. O'Sullivan's vision pays tribute to moments of counterculture and kitsch that are at once glamorous, and politically incorrect.
Collections maintain a youthful perspective with focus on well-constructed classic pieces that transition from season to season, resisting the disposable fashion craze. The key to the Keen-o Calder line is the interaction between the body and the garment with the form of the individual accentuating each piece. The look is not overly self conscious, but striking in its presentation. Keen-o merges conflicting idealisms with an eye on trends, quality and longevity. They are impeccably tailored and engaging but simple enough that they can be accessorized to showcase the unique personality of every woman.

KEEN-O CALDER is responsibly and ethically designed and produced in New York City.
