I agree with the last tag. No matter who you choose. Set up some shoots with people who know the business. As a model turned photographer, I can tell you this... As a model you should shoot with many ETHICAL/QUALITY photographers. A lot of models on MM say they only shoot paid work. Let me tell you they are full of themselves and foolish. I have family and friends modeling in NYC and L.A., and they will always do TF work for various reasons. Mainly because you always have a fresh image and can show range. If you're uncomfortable and want a chaperon, you should as long as they are not family or a significant other. I will say, you should not expect that privilege with an agent and a client books you. A professional booking means you're working with pros and there are always at least 3 or 4 other people at the shoot (makeup artist, artdirector, grips...). Professional bookings have always been a safe and comfortable environment.
