EXPERIMENTAL COUTURE BY ANDREA CASTRO
Andrea Castro received her professional degree in Fashion Design at the European Fashion Design Institute of Milan, which is also the city where she realized her Masters studies in Marketing and Business Communication Techniques.
Since 2002, Castro has worked in the departments of design, production, marketing and merchandising of various renowned brands such as Gianfranco Ferrè, Benetton, Maurizio Pecoraro, D&G, Lonsdale, Tricot Chic, Prenatal, Chicco, Champions and Killer Loop, among others. Similarly, she has been working in marketing and merchandising with brands such as L'Oreal Paris, Biotherm, Lancome, Givenchy, Kenzo, Dior, Lancaster, Ralph Lauren e Adidas. Further she has assisted in callings, backstages, fittings and runways for the designers Pringle of Scotland, Prada, Neil Barrett, Stephan Janson, and Dsquared, among others, during the fashion weeks of Milan and Paris.
Nonetheless, her peak of professional recognition came after winning the 2004 competition by Marithe & Francois Girbaud. This prestigious award has generated great interest among professionals of Fashion System and has allowed the designer to work in London, Paris and Milan, projecting lines of apparel and accessories with the prestigious French House for some years.
After this extensive experience, including everything from conceptions of ideas to production and marketing, Castro launched her own fashion brand for females: “Experimental Couture by Andrea Castro”. Her brand strictly represents experimental creations, for in an exploratory nature creativity is essential, demonstrating the multi-functionality of her designs. The essence of her brand is categorized by great creativity, play of volumes and contrasts, and delicate manual illustrations with extreme attention to detail.
Each and every item of the Experimental Couture collection displays a unique identity thanks to the designer’s love for Italian tailoring and fixation for detail, making each item unmistakably distinct for her brand. The brand displays a predominant style of design, demonstrating polyfunctional garments which permit a single piece of clothing to convert into two or three different looks. For example, a dress can often be converted into two separate pieces of clothing, a skirt and a vest, by separating the pieces by the utilization of buttons, allowing women to use the garment in different ways and for different occasions in a contemporary everyday life. Her brand is designed for women on the move; women, who in one single day may visit a university, travel or go to the movies, and who demand a distinct and elegant look.
When Experimental Couture by Andrea Castro enters the scene, one will undoubtedly be amazed. One must learn not to settle for the usual, to view what is displayed with new eyes, and to avoid seeking “the current trend”, for such trend is not important and does not exist. One must go further to discover something completely different and closely observe its characteristics, which may be hidden inside the garment, in the linings, in the construction or in its shape, to discover the unusual volumes and silhouettes of extreme modernity as those displayed by Experimental Couture.
This collection has been represented in important international fashion weeks such as Milan, Paris, Moscow, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Miami.
Experimental Couture by Andrea Castro is currently available in Europe, the United States, the Middle East, Kazakhstan, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Russia, Mexico and Suriname.
