Friends (35)About Me
First off, you may want to know about my photography background. I got my first "pro-sumer" digital camera in 2009 and started to take pictures of everything in AUTO (practically as if I was taking photos with a point and shoot camera). I would upload my jpeg files and look them over with disappointment. I looked at my favorite photographic artists and felt heartbroken that I could not create images that were as captivating as theirs. I soon realized that in order for my photos to look great I would have to educate myself A LOT.
When I got my camera I was not really planning on doing it professionally. I liked photos, I had the "idea" of becoming pro in the back of my mind but dismissed it and continued to search for my perfect career. After months of searching and helping my husband with his business on the side I realized that nothing I pursued made me as happy as taking photos and getting a good look at my "digital gold" when I got home. My husband supported me and told me that I should start taking photos professionally since he thought I had talent. Of course, the little bug at the back of my head said "no way". Eventually however, God had put the path to professional photography in my way and it could not be ignored. I kept on working on my craft (learned all that my camera can do, exposures, f-stops, ISO's, post production.... you get the point) and started to get random requests from friends to take their photos. I then decided to take a chance and worked as a nightlife photographer for Picture This City. Later I would shoot nightlife as a freelance photographer but due to my personal convictions I decided that it was not where I wanted to be. What I DID gain from the experience was the ability to maneuver my camera in really low light situations which turned out to be great experience in seeing light as a wonderful tool in my work . At this point, after a large investment in equipment and on-going photographic education I do mostly portraits, children, families, couples, model portfolios, fashion and styled shoots. My husband is still running his successful medical/pharmaceutical company but assists me on most weekend and afternoon shoots. Up until recently I have been working with natural light and as my client needs increase I am slowly moving into a studio setting as well. My (our) long term goals are to be the GO-TO photographer with a reputation of integrity, responsibility and understanding of my clients needs. I would also like to have a lot more assignments that require travel and beautiful scenery with wonderful people. In addition, because I love working with people I would like to take on a few weddings a year. Verified Credits (0)Worked with Whiting Shots? Share your experience and become verified! Add Credits
