About Me

I am branching out to include more portraiture, fashion and fitness genres in my work.
I am looking for lean, spontaneous, enthusiastic and energetic co-conspirators in order to create art. A little crazy wouldn't hurt.
My focus is capturing what the model presents to me, I do not "pose" models. 90% of the time I let the model dictate the direction of the shoot. I take what they present to me and find the images hidden within. My philosophy is that if the model isn't having fun, then the shoot is a failure. The images in my portfolio reflect that philosophy. It is also one of the reasons why I'll be shooting TFCD going forward - I want the model to be searching for non-monetary value in the work that we do. I need a creative team member. I'll cover any expenses for the model when we shoot.
Bring your imagination along for the ride.
"Look at the camera and smile"... Six words that will never pass my lips.

UPDATE 7/24:
Photography has been a lifelong hobby of mine. In addition, I also utilize photography heavily in my professional life. The photos shown here are but a small part of what I do.

Owing to current circumstances I am changing my principal focus from classic and abstract figure photography to fitness, fashion and portrait photography. I currently do not have access to studio space and cannot afford to rent space. Thus, I am forced to use public spaces, or model-supplied spaces for my photography work. So, I am switching to types of photography which can be done outdoors (summer in Phoenix...LOL) and in public spaces. And I need more variety in my portfolio as well. For fitness shooting I have a line on a gym that will let me do limited shooting at their facility. I will still do figure work when conditions allow.

The photos in my albums are a small sample of what I've done over the years. In earlier years sites such as this didn't exist so few of us worried about model releases for non-commercial work. I only display photos for which I have signed releases. Just about all of the clothed work that I did over the years was done without model releases - so that work is underrepresented here. Rest assured; I CAN photograph women wearing clothing.

My preferred "style" is for a single light source, with deep shadows, that is the first album that is presented. Our brains have been programmed over millions of years by our environment so that a single light source appears most natural. I have a particular disdain for over-lit photographs. I like the darkness. To me, it's the shadows that elevate photographs to art. Strangely, over the years, I have accumulated sufficient lighting equipment to illuminate a basketball court. Other albums do include some photos with multiple light sources, though I have kept them to a minimum.

The model types that I had previously specified for my work remain the same. Due to the fitness aspect good musculature is even more desired. I'm really looking for lean models with visible abdominals and back/shoulder muscles. All work will be TFP going forward - files will be provided to the model. I am looking for subjects who will work in collaboration in order to achieve results that satisfy their wants and needs also. If you have been contacted personally and given a business card for this site, rest assured it was I who gave you that card.

PREVIOUS:
My goal in my personal photography is to convey the strength and beauty of the female human form. My expectations in joining this site are to be able to work with models with similar interests, and to improve the quality of my work. In the past I had sold my personal work through several galleries but have decided that the potential rewards do not outweigh the considerable costs involved.

I am resuming my personal work after a long (10 year) hiatus, and a cross-country move, and will be rebuilding my portfolio over the coming months. My principal interest is traditional figure/bodyscape photography (which I find has much in common with landscape and architectural photography), for which I am seeking slim female models.

My preference for traditional figure is for a slim muscular build, A through C-cup, with visible musculature and bone structure and the flexibility to hit and hold difficult poses. Lean with muscular definition preferred over skinny-fat. Models with gymnastics, dance (especially ballet - due to the physical requirements), skating, yoga or fitness/bodybuilding experience especially desired. I'm looking for: visible pelvic bones, ribs, clavicle, hips, gluteus, lats, obliques and abs - I am especially fascinated by the muscular intricacy of the human back. Natural and unadorned preferred - bodyscape photography is about a universal appreciation of light and structure/form. I am also actively seeking "fitness" models with the same attributes for those who feel uncomfortable unclothed. "Portrait" or "Glamour" genres (which I also indulge in from time to time) are the preferred venue for modified body types.  An added benefit for the shy, is that the anonymity afforded by traditional figure/bodyscape photography offers an opportunity for self-expression to those who would otherwise avoid nude modeling.

If you are a female model, and anything in my portfolio resonates with you, don't hesitate to contact me.
