May 11, 2012 9:46am These photos are a tribute to Lynne Shimeck, who was killed in a murder-suicide by her husband. Lynne was a sweet woman and talented artist who did face painting and body painting. Jimaye modeled for Lynne once, and we collaborated on the ideas for this photo shoot. I was trying to show the anger and denial of the abuser who thinks they can force someone to love them. I had meant to paint in an anatomical heart on Jimaye's chest, and ran out of time. Now I'm glad the heart came out as an empty space. Please: if someone hurts you - even once - get help and create an escape plan. If you're hurting someone else - get help to stop it. Domestic violence kills because it's kept secret.
