May 29, 2010 5:05am Magnificent tribute to one of my favourite, and one of the most visually striking of films. Perfectly captures the 1920s SF aesthetic, the Art Deco headdress having a look that is both futuristic and ancient / ritualistic in its sun-symbolism, suggesting the sacrificial and religious themes of the film. Along with the tight outfit, it also echoes the styles of the contemporary sculptures of Demetre Chiparus. With the human face, impassive yet subtly sinister, this figure evokes both the human and robot forms of the film's "monster", and the tinting of the shot echoes both the contemporary style of colourising film and the apocalyptic theme of the film's final act.
